Montessori Pink Tower

Regular price $65

The Montessori pink tower is a traditional material designed by Maria Montessori herself. The tower ranges from one cubic centimeter to 10 cubic centimeters and is used to emphasize visual discrimination. Children experiment with the tower and recognize visually when the tower is ordered correctly. The progressive increases in the size of the cubes provide a visual example of mathematical concepts (the third power). Children internalize this natural order when practicing to place to tower in ascending order.

Our 'pink' tower, rather than being painted pink, is made of solid cherry wood and sealed only with a beeswax and oil sealant. The important aspect of the color of the tower is not that it be pink, but that the color remains constant so that the child can focus on the variable of size. Using a natural tower, rather than a painted one, ensures that paint chipping does not occur, and the safety of the sealant is not an issue.

We have created this tower in size exactly as the traditional Montessori material, therefore, some pieces do pose a choking hazard. Not for use in children under age 3 (or until children stop placing objects in their mouths). Use under adult supervision.

This material is made in the US in our workshop and has a lifetime warranty.
